EdShare update session given at the ALTC Online Winter Conference 2017. Brief introduction to EdShare and its key features and our community. Information on aspects we are currently working - lists feature which will enable resources to be contextualised and presented as Modules or Lesson plans as needed. The same feature will support user generated playlist. This presentation also covers the launch and future intentions of edshare.ac.uk which will act a central access point for all-things EdShare

"This lightning talk will describe the open source OER solution ‘EdShare’. The open content platform which is running a number of successful OER sites in the HEI community including edShare@GCU, EdShare Soton, eShare, Humbox, LanguageBox and more. The platform, which originated from a Jisc funded institutional exemplars project in 2008, is now a stable and fully supported solution available from the University of Southampton enterprise group to support the sharing and engagement with OERs and OEP. The platform is based on the open content system EPrints, and has been heavily influenced by web 2.0 sharing sites. This lightning talk will summarise existing key features of the platform including streamlined submission, user community profiles, inline preview support, shareable editing rights, dissemination routes. Details will also be included on the future direction of EdShare and how you can be involved in the shaping the development roadmap."

The impact of repositories and OERs on teaching and learning”, JISC funded event, in collaboration with SCORE and LORO, held on 23 March 2011, at the Open University, Milton Keynes. The work reflects the thinking and approach for EdShare at the University of Southampton in March 2011.

Covering the recent growth of the EdShare network of digital content platforms for sharing educational materials and will focus on the recent development of the EdShareHUB – a community resource harnessing a distributed growing collection of over 8000 open teaching and learning materials.

Slides from presentation given at OER17, London. The presentation talks about the need for well designed digital spaces which consider the needs for OERs and OEP. It also sets out how EdShare is being used by a growing community of institutions and subject specific communities.

A presentation to explain the principles of EdShare

Presentation given at 2016 Association for Learning Technology conference at University of Warwick (ALT2016). This presentation shares key findings from my MSc thesis on discoverability strategies for OERs after a small scale study into Jisc UKOER projects. The origins, key features and recent improvements to EdShare, the OER repository solution which is available through EPrints Services at the University of Southampton, is highlighted. Repositories provide an excellent way of archiving, preserving and managing content, but is this enough for OERs. OERs are about more than simply sharing, and this presentation highlighted a number of development areas under consideration for EdShare, to become a more open digital space.

Update on the work undertaken by EPrints team at University of Southampton (EPrints Services) to migrate the OER repository solution 'EdShare' to the latest EPrints 3.3 core and setting out areas for the solution to continue to develop and embrace ethos of open education to reach a global community of educators, students and self-learners. Presentation given at 11th International Open Repositories conference in Dublin (OR2016).
