As the tutor reads the essay, he is pleased to see that Barry appears to be taking his studies seriously at last. Clearly that little chat they had couple of weeks ago did the job. The arguments and references show evidence of significant background reading. Well, this deserves 65% - a good Upper Second - and he makes a note to personally congratulate Barry on his efforts.
Barry's emotions are in turmoil as the essays are handed back in class. He feels relief that he got away with it and got a good grade - but then his tutor singles him out for praise and his face burns with shame. "Well done, and I hope you can keep up this standard in future." What now? how will he keep it up?
