Apprenticeship model

The facilitator is a skilled crafts person, the learner learns by re-enacting their actions.

Competence model

The practice facilitator enables the learner to learn specific practice objectives, and assesses their competence in carrying these out.

Team mentoring model

A team of facilitators support one or more learners jointly.  The concept is very like team supervision.

Contract model

This is formal facilitation that is time or objectives-restricted, for example a learner may be on a placement visit to another institution.

Pseudo-mentoring model

Sometimes described as quasi or partial supervision, this approach may only occur for a specific task i.e. dissertation supervision.
